Dave Chappele Biography

If comedy is a calling, David answered it at a very early age. Chappelle began his career in his native Washington, DC at the age of fourteen. As a minor, his mother, an ordained Unitarian minister, often accompanied him to gigs. Now thirty, he no longer needs a chaperone. Today, Dave’s gift of laughter extends well beyond the stand-up circuit. His movie credits alone include over eleven major feature film roles.

Last Fall marked the debut of “Chappelle’s Show” on Comedy Central. The second season debuted in January of 2004. The critically acclaimed series, which is written by (along with HALF BAKED co-writer Neal Brennan), produced by, and stars Chappelle, takes his own personal joke book and brings it to life, with episodes consisting of sketches, man-on-the-street pieces and pop culture parodies.
